Tetsuya HANDA

Born in Tokyo in 1970, he grew up in the leafy neighbourhood of Kichijoji before moving to Kyoto to attend university.

He joined Sumitomo Trust and Banking in 1994. At branches in Osaka Prefecture, he gained broad experience in counter services, financial advice, business succession, real estate and lending. Following an assignment at head office, he specialised in global business, beginning with foreign exchange.

Across four overseas postings in Europe and the United States, he provided services related to foreign securities investments for Japanese institutional investors. Alongside this work, he handled corporate acquisitions (M&A) in Ireland, the United Kingdom and the Cayman Islands, as well as domestic bank integration projects.

Drawing on his expertise in overseas asset administration and asset management, together with his corporate planning capabilities, he served as president of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank in Luxembourg and in the United States. During his tenure as U.S. president, the local subsidiary recorded its highest-ever revenue.

Through more than 30 years in the financial industry and over 16 years of living and working overseas, he developed expertise in international finance, M&A and corporate management, together with a global network.

He subsequently recognised the business potential of Kawaguchi's Dots concept and his ability to launch multiple businesses at a young age. He saw promise in the vision of evolving vending machines into a new form of commercial infrastructure connecting brands and consumers.

He joined the company's management as Director and CFO to combine the founder's business creation capabilities with his own experience in international finance and corporate management, with the aim of building the next generation of commercial infrastructure on a global scale.

He applies his financial and management expertise to capital strategy, fundraising and the establishment of management systems, while pursuing sustainable business growth and maximising corporate value.

His wide-ranging interests include skiing, swimming, marathons, surfing, music, cooking, photography, writing, fashion, flower arranging, spatial design, driving, touring and cruising.

His qualifications include 金融コンプライアンス・オフィサー1級 (Level 1 Financial Compliance Officer), 一級船舶操縦士 (a Class 1 boat operator qualification), the UK WSET® Level 3 Award in Wines, 日本オイスター協会認定オイスターマイスター (an oyster meister qualification certified by the Japan Oyster Association), and 日本ラム協会認定ラム・コンシェルジュ (a rum concierge qualification certified by the Japan Rum Association).
